Whatcha Grazin'?

What's inside my Graze box this week?
Well last weeks graze box went astray and ended up just not showing at all, which was sad and annoying but after a few stern emails they eventually gave me a full refund of my box. I then got my next box half price, but have since cancelled my Graze box orders again as it's just too much of a hassle right now as the postal system at my university is a little unreliable and can get confused what with there being so many buildings, so many floors per building and so many flats and rooms per floor...
Anywho, onto the box:

As soon as I got it (it arrived in my postbox at 8pm this night...)
I opened the olives which were a complete knock out and utterly delicious, but I knew I would like them. They're in a delicious oil and just really morish.
As a mid morning snack the following day I had the salt and vinegar nut selection which was also really really tasty. They could probably get away with using a little less salt and a little more vinegar though, just thinking for the health benefit side of things.
After lunch I ate the Boston baguettes with a dip that tasted kind of smokey, as though it had onions, a bit of tomato in it too. It was really good, but my problem with it, is that it really didn't taste that healthy at all, maybe almost too delicious for it's own good. Here lies the same problem that led me to cancel the last time, are these Graze boxes really that healthy after all?
Finally, coincidentally after dinner I ate the after dinner mint which had mint flavoured raisins in it which were interesting, it wasn't an overwhelming taste just as though they had a delicate hint of mint to the raisins but they still tasted much more 'raisin-y' than minty which is a good thing. The dark chocolate buttons included are also really good and creamy, and I usually find dark chocolate too bitter. It contained plain nuts too which made it a little more nutritional!

The box overall was great, I liked everything in it but my problems are the same as they always were:
I eat everything too fast, if this is meant to last me a week or even a few days, it's just never going to happen!
I don't think it's all that healthy, maybe it is if I was someone who snacks on crisps and chocolates but when I snack normally it will be on things like Olives, bananas and peanut butter, raw carrots and dip, oranges and maybe some chocolate here and there.
I think this encourages me to snack more than I normally would, the plastic containers are so little that I don't even need to be hungry to finish them, I'm just eating them because they are new, interesting and are there in front of me!

That's my graze wrap up, perhaps they'll encourage me to get another Graze box delivered with another tempting deal or discount code!

Accidental Graze

Sunday, 3 March 2013

This time last week I wrote about the Graze boxes which are regular snack boxes that are posted straight to you, I got my first box for free which was no doubt delicious but decided against having them sent to me on a weekly basis because it is not particularly cost effective, and I do wonder if it's as healthy as claimed. Lots of the snacks are particularly salty or sweet- which I'm not complaining because they are delicious but I don't think that it will enhance my health or diet particularly.
Well, I accidentally forgot to cancel my second box so today I was faced with:

Which was once again delicious, especially the olives! And the package that has been all reflected off because of the flash on my camera had a little slice of banana cake inside which was to die for! It was just lovely, and it had a cute little tea bag aswell which I'm yet to use.
While this was a sweet package and the most delicious mail I could ever recieve, my initial thoughts about whether it was good value for money still exist.. and this time I remembered to cancel my Graze box!
But here's a peek inside incase you were considering being a part of the Graze scheme

Grazing!

I ordered my first every Graze box from Graze.com
It's basically a box of snacks that gets sent to you by default weekly, but you can choose to have them daily or fortnightly for example. All my friends were telling me about how you can claim your first free box using a code, but I didn't have a code but still got a free box sort of by accident. Basically, I made an account and had filled in my email but when it came to filling in my card details I didn't have my card to hand so simply stopped creating an account alltogether. Cleverly, Graze sent me an email to remind me that I hadn't completely finished entering in my details and that if I did I would get a free box- so of course I finished signing up!
Once my account had been made I could have waited for the surprise of what might have arrived in my Graze box or I could take matters into my own hands and choose the things that I knew I would Love, Like, Try and Bin (i.e dislike and never want to try)
To be honest, I binned quite a lot, more than half of the options available and there are over 100.
Anyway, some time later I felt confident I'd wiped out all the gross options so that only yumminess would remain, I was hoping for popcorn, olives and delicious crouton, bread-dippy things.
This is what I got:

For some annoying reason, the picture wouldn't move from a sideways angle so I'm sorry that you have to jut your head! But I was happy with what I found, I got my popcorn which was completely delicious, I got my bread dippy things, salsa and chilli and cheesy crackers. It was completely delicious there's no doubt about that but I demolished the entire box in about 30 minutes so it was less of a graze and more of a devouring feast. Also, it was so delicious that I really don't think that it is as healthy as it claims, in the end it was just more snacking than I needed to eat.
It's not something that I can afford to do week in week out, plus I don't believe that it would imporve my diet. If I feel like a snack I have a cupboard full of fruit which is more filling, cheaper and lasts longer than these boxes.
They're a nice idea if you work in an office for example and don't have time to pack a lunch, but I'd suggest taking just one snack to work rather than the whole box as you probably will end up eating them all in one go!
