It's about that time again where I go out for something to eat with my friend from school who moved to the same city as I did!
I recommended that we eat at the same Japanese place that I went to a few weeks back in December, and it was so delicious that I blogged about it, and here I am blogging about it again!
I even ordered the same thing... I know, not very imaginative but I knew I loved it and I had craved it a few times since.
This is what I worse, I suppose this seemed appropriate attire!
I wore my birthday part tee! I love it, it's from a shop on ebay and has presents and balloons and cake on it!
Along with my rock and republic trousers that are made from a black stretchy fabric, these are from TK Maxx and have lasted foreverrrrrrrrrrrrr, on my feet I have my pink stripy socks, I guess I'd forgotten to put on my shoes- but I swear I did wear some!
Makeup is a whole mish-mash from the Naked 2 palette, I can never remember what I've used, I just go into a bit of a colour daze and use everything that I like
A close up of my feather earring that I like because a part of it looks like a feather hair extension! I love the cool blue colour part, this has lasted me over a year I think and made it through the treacherous windy weather that blew my hair every which way the minute I left!
Now I am too full up on sticky rice to move! Ooopsy

The best dinner ever!
Sunday, 9 December 2012
If you've read my blog for a while, you'll know that I have been a part of a Japanese exhcange for the past few months, but my newly found Japanese friends had to go back to Japan at Christmas, so to say goodbye we went to an 'authentic' Japanese resturant as recommended by then. I didn't know what to expect but I was very very pleasantly surprised!
I ordered the Sweet and Sour Bento
Bento apparently is a box! So like a meal in a box, when it arrived it all looked so pretty and authentic, but I did not eat it authenticially and left my chop sticks on the table and used a spoon and fork instead!
The sweet and sour chicken was nicer than at a chinese takeaway, and in the middle were pickles that did not look like pickles, the rice was of a different consistency too, more sticky but I loved it.
In the bottom left corner were green beans in a peanut sort of sauce, a potato salad in a silver cupcake casing haha!
I tink it's so much fun to have our meals in boxes rather than boring round plates!
Japanese Exchange
Tuesday, 30 October 2012
In the spirit of learning new languages, I've volunteered to take part in a japanese exchange- so even though my japanese language knowledge is limited solely to 'Konichiwa' - I hope that's spelt right haha!
So bascially I've been put in touch with two japanese students who are here until christmas. It's all about helping them to practice their conversational english so perhaps it's better that I can't speak japanese as it would be easier to resort back to that when they don't understand words.
I took the japanese students back to my university room as they were curious to see what the student rooms look like, the first words when they walked into my room were 'whoah so much hello kitty'
I did laugh, but they told me it's for smaller girls normally, not adults!
Ah well
This is the outfit I put together for the meeting, I wanted to look friendly!
From the bottom up:
Black ankle boots from New Look
Faded jeans from Joe Browns
Plaid shirt from Forever 21
Black top underneth from Primark
Leather studded Jacket from Internationale
Feather earring from Etsy
Makeup combination frmo Naked Palette- Urban Decay

"What'cha Geisha up to?"
Tuesday, 27 March 2012
I remember being around 12 or 13 years old and deciding that I might quite like to be a geisha when I was older!
I always had a bit of a 'thing' for the oriental culture and I remember my mum buying me lots of pairs of 'silky' feeling oriental pyjamas, with gold stitching of the special writing and special gold toggle fastenings and lanterns that I'd hand from my ceiling, and the red fans to choreograph dances- they were so fun and fancy when I think back!
My nan got me a pair from the charity shop and they came in a red silky case with matching red silky slippers with shite fluff edging and gold stitching. They came from somewhere very unexotic like Marks and Spencers I think, but they ignited my passion to be a Geisha!
They're walking works of art, down to their makeup, wonderfully luxurious clothes, the way they speak, walk, sit, eat- everything! Who wouldn't want to go to parties for a living?
I read an anthropoligst research book on Geisha's that somewhat revealed that it's not all fun and games as I thought... but my love for Geisha lives on!
So, since all my walls are white and blank, I feel as though I'm old enough to invest in some real lovely art, rather than my posters from teenhood!
I tried to describe to a local artist (and friend) what I wanted- I sounded a lot like this
"I sort of want a geisha portrait....with blue skies...a parasol and kimono... pretty....and red lips"
from my jibberish, she recreated exactly what I wanted, as though it had just fell out of my brain onto a canvas.
I'm trying to cosy on down in my bed but I can't stop looking at how beautiful she is!
It's fun to surround ourselves with beautiful things that can sweep us away to wonderful dreams...
