Blue Wedding!

Saturday, 9 March 2013

Today was a frantic rush of getting ready, I was so excited for this wedding that I hadn't slept very well for a few nights running up to it.
I got my hair done in the morning which took some of the pressure off, my hair-spiration came from Pinterest:

but I did my own makeup which was a neutral eye using the Urban Decay Vice palette - I forgot my Naked Palette and only had my Vice at home but luckily there were a few neutral gems in there which made it work out okay!
I did a bright bold red lip too video to follow, and then I had to do my sisters makeup too!
My sister is wearing a purple dress so wanted makeup to match, I found this:
From Pinterest of course...
and delved into the Urban Decay Vice palette and it had the perfect colours to recreate this

Here's how we turned out and then I will give an outfit break down!

My sister breakdown:
Purple dress from Karen Millen
Nude shoes from.. New Look or Next Probably
Makeup- me!

My breakdown:
Nautical dress from a boutique but I think I saw the same design at Blue Banana
Red Heels eBay - £10! (new, from an eBay shop)
Beaded clutch- Present from my sister from Debenhams about 5 years ago!
I did get some comments that it looked like I was wearing fancy dress- but I didn't care I love nautical-ness!

Us with the bride!
I wasn't sure if she'd appreciate her picture being put anywhere other than her Facebook, so I covered her face in hearts, just to be certain that it wouldn't be disrespectful to the privacy of her special day!

Her dress was completely stunning and breathtaking! It had lace all over and the train was beauitful and sort of scalloped! It was divine! I really want to try it on! The day was really lovely and the speeches were so funny - speeches are usually boring but these were not, although it probably helps when you know the bride very well!
It was also really nice to be with all my nearest and dearest all in once place, this hardly ever happens, not even at Christmas!

The side effect is that it has just made me even more nervous and excited about my sisters wedding this Summer!

Ahoy there Sailor!

Thursday, 3 May 2012

As well as the colour mint, I also love nautical themed things, I have been to so many fancy dress parties in a variety of Sailor outfits that it's almost silly! But not quite...

So my heart did a funny skip dance at the nautical MAC collection that's come out.

The packaging is cute with wavy blue stripes and it's all inspired by those pretty retro pin-up girls that remind me of the seaside!

So, what am I most looking foward to?
Jaunty- A frost eyeshadow (looks like sand from here!)

Handforged- Powerpoint eye pencil

Throw me a line! Ruby red lip pencil

Send me sailing- Lipglass
As much as I love nautical, these are the main things that interest me, there's a lot of orange toned products which are a big no no on my skin tone

But I can still appreciate the awesomeness of their names!

The name awards go to:

In Third place- Sea mist liquid lip balm - I think that sounds like just the thing to put on some sun frazzled lips

In Second place- Jaunty - I just love that word! We should use that in everday language 'her haircut is so jaunty!'

In First place-............... Launch Away! - I can hear the cannon balls flying through the air as we speak!

What's your favourites from the new collection?

Fancy Dress Dilemma...

Friday, 17 February 2012

So it's that time when my favourite kind of party has come around and that is fancy dress or 'costume parties' as I hear they're called in the U.S
I love them so much because there's no pressure to look a certain way, you can literally dress like anything you want, you can look silly, colourful, ridiculous and no one will be rude or mean about you behind your back, they just think 'what a fun costume!'

In the past I've gone as many many many different variations of a Sailor Girl, I had (still do) a big crush on nautical fashion that I've just never grown out of! Spongebob Squarepants, Alice in Wonderland, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz it goes on...

But I'm here to show you my most recent favourites and amazingly outstanding incredible new fun designs
(which you can often get for the half the price on ebay fyi... I've never paid more than £20 for a costume from there)

Katy Perry Sweetie costume! This is my absolute favourite! I love the ice creams on the bodice and the tutu rainbow layers!
or...
A bubble gum machine!!! I could pop bubbles all night, and hand them out too!

Crayola Crayon Tickle Me Pink Adult Costume

Or maybe a giant pink crayon, haha! This one made me laugh the most although I would wear pink shoes, not those shiny black boots...
They have so many cute and fun novelty costumes at:
www.spirithalloween.com

It's good to go for inspiration first, then to try and find a cheaper alternative elsewhere.
So what do you guys think? Maybe you hate them all, maybe I won't even be able to find these crazy creations on ebay , but this site has the best selection of costumes I ever saw! Let me know what you guys think would be the best, or maybe a whole other costume all together!
