Let The Good Times Roll - Lush body and face wash

Monday, 13 January 2014

Something this glorious is, in my opinion, wasted to be smeared across the expanse of my body. No, this is much too lovely and I have branded it 'too nice for anywhere else'

Closing my eyes, hooking my nose over the edge of the pot and the smell of the funfair fills my nostrils. Not the ones from today, the one just like that fair in 'The Notebook' where even the grass looks like it could have the scent of candyfloss singed into it. Think caramelised sugar, butterscotch- sweet and low scented as opposed to Lush's infamous 'Snow Fairy' with it's strong and loud cotton candy blend.

Let The Good Times Roll is all the fun of the fair in a little pot.

It has a texture like rich, stiff butter cream icing but is a dense mustard colour and, do a little poking around and you will find fully formed, individual pieces of popcorn!
I have no idea how I scrub these into my face, I suppose it is all part of the sensory experience.
The paste is at first somewhat dry so needs water to be activated into a smotherable form.
I whip up a little little bit with the tip of my finger, and rub it into a wet palm of the alternate hand before applying to my damp face.

It does not have much of a lather to it, so do not expect frothy bubbles, once applied it is colourless if you distribute a thin layer evenly enough and has a very very slight grainy feel to it. With this in mind, this face wash is a nice treat for 'every other day' if your skin can survive it all like mine but if you're more of a delicate daisy then once a week will be terrific.

It's not too late!

...to look fabulous on Christmas morning!

My last makeup tutorial before Christmas, and it has certainly led me to rediscover the beauty of my Naked Palette #1

It's all gold and bronzes and understatedly glamorous with a subtle eyeliner flick and diluted metallics!

I use a combination of shimmer and matte colours and finish off my lining my upper and lower waterlines with an eye kohl by Mac in Smoulder (a deep, dark black)

So if you're stuck thinking I just don't know 'what' to do on Christmas day then this is a safe bet to look glamorous and 'put together' when the eyes do not take any more than five minutes to throw on.

Bathing in GOO

Friday, 13 July 2012

I was drawing myself a bath when I stumbled upon a container filled with bath tablets that turn your bath water a fun, bright colour! I had forgotten that I even had them, as I think they were from the kids section in Boots bath gimmicks.

So I just threw the last two in the water and waited to see what happened!

This is what happened!
It looked like I had a bath of goo, it didn't stain anything even though it was so super-vibrant and it made my bath a little more fun! Though I've no idea what drew me to buying someting so useless...

Storing up nail polish!

Monday, 2 April 2012

Sometimes the best, and easiest way to decorate your bedroom, is to use the things already in it, but arrange them in a decorative way!
You may have read my 'tired of untying your necklaces?' post, where I show you how to store your jewelerry while decorating a blank wall.

Well here, I give you....

The nail polish rack!!!

What do you need? A spice rack and a pot of paint.
If you're a little less patient you can use a spray can .

You could but a new spice rack, get one from a second hand store or even from ebay to really keep costs low.

For the hot nail colours of this season for the teeny price of £2.99 a bottle see Fridays post (30/03/12)

So you think you're too OLD for a slumber party!?

Wednesday, 21 March 2012

While arranging to stay at my friends house we decided to make it a fun theme like the 'old days' when staying over for slumber parties were the greatest thing ever!I remember being so excited I couldn't sleep on a Monday for a Slumber party on the Friday or Saturday!
So here's a little look at what was in my sleep over bag I wish I had pictures from what I would take when I was 12 or so to do a side by side comparison!

Fuzzy slipper-boots from Next!

Bedtime socks to trot about in or keep your tootsies warm!

Disposable toothbrush so you can throw it away the next day!

Fuzzy Jammas!

Mini toiletories bag!

Moisturiser and face wash!

Bottle of water to take to bed so you don't have to get up in the night and feel your way to a foreign kitchen tap for a drink!
We watched a lot of back to back episodes of Friends until my eyes cemented shut!

Fun fact of the day: I Forgot to tug the tag out of my pants and was waking around with it alllllll day and didn't notice until I changed 30 mins ago, luckily it was on the inside.

Did you use to/ still do love slumber parties?

Mother Mummy Mama Mom Mum Ma

Sunday, 18 March 2012

Defined as:
Heart healer
Happy maker
Supporter
Comforter
Sacrifice maker
Listener
it goes on and on and on and on!

This day in England is Mothers day, or Mothering Sunday.
A day to cherish our mothers, but remember- you don't need a special day to cherish your mother, they're beautiful diamonds in our hearts that should be admired always!

Maybe things with your mum aren't so peachy, maybe you have an Aunt, Grandma, Sister or friend that has been a mother instead!  Let them know how thankful you are to have had them when it felt like we had no one.
Mothers treasure kind words more than fancy presents, a home made card says so much more than a shop bought one- everyone will tell you that, not just mums!

If you want to get your mama a little something but are out of cash or time , watch my 2 minute video on how to make a foam boquet of roses.

All you need is:
Foam (colour for the flowers, and green for the leaves)
Scissors
Pipe cleaners

What you don't need:
Glue
£$£ a lot of money!$£$
a creative 'flair'

1. Cut out a strip of foam and keep one edge of the strip with a straight cut edge, make the other side kind of wavy to look like petals

2. Cut out a doughnut shape foam (circle with a hole in the middle) and cut the edges kind of wavy, so they look petal-like

3. Take a green pipecleaner (this is your stalk) poke it through one side of the jagged strip and wrap the strip up tightly, secure it in place with the doughnut shaped part pushed up and over the rolled up strip

4. Cut out a leaf shape (2 per flower should be enough)

5. Poke the leaves through either end of another green pipe cleaner

6. Wrap this around the stalk pipecleaner (the one attatched to the petals)

7. Gift it to someone, or keep them for yourself, on your jewelerry table, dresser, window ledge, wherever!

Happy Mothers day to everyone!

Fancy Dress Dilemma...

Friday, 17 February 2012

So it's that time when my favourite kind of party has come around and that is fancy dress or 'costume parties' as I hear they're called in the U.S
I love them so much because there's no pressure to look a certain way, you can literally dress like anything you want, you can look silly, colourful, ridiculous and no one will be rude or mean about you behind your back, they just think 'what a fun costume!'

In the past I've gone as many many many different variations of a Sailor Girl, I had (still do) a big crush on nautical fashion that I've just never grown out of! Spongebob Squarepants, Alice in Wonderland, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz it goes on...

But I'm here to show you my most recent favourites and amazingly outstanding incredible new fun designs
(which you can often get for the half the price on ebay fyi... I've never paid more than £20 for a costume from there)

Katy Perry Sweetie costume! This is my absolute favourite! I love the ice creams on the bodice and the tutu rainbow layers!
or...
A bubble gum machine!!! I could pop bubbles all night, and hand them out too!

Crayola Crayon Tickle Me Pink Adult Costume

Or maybe a giant pink crayon, haha! This one made me laugh the most although I would wear pink shoes, not those shiny black boots...
They have so many cute and fun novelty costumes at:
www.spirithalloween.com

It's good to go for inspiration first, then to try and find a cheaper alternative elsewhere.
So what do you guys think? Maybe you hate them all, maybe I won't even be able to find these crazy creations on ebay , but this site has the best selection of costumes I ever saw! Let me know what you guys think would be the best, or maybe a whole other costume all together!

Sometimes I need to T.H.I.N.K

Wednesday, 15 February 2012

Before I speak
T-is it truthful?
H-is it helpful?
I-is it inspiring?
N-is it necessary?
K-is it kind?

Imagine if the world took these steps every day before we spoke, what a wonderful world we would live in! Full of kindness and honesty and a world where everyone motivates eachother, believes in eachother and inspires eachother.
Imagine what we could achieve in a world like this, how far we could all go and the wonderfullness that would blossom out of each and every person.

Perhaps someone has sprung to your mind while reading this, someone who does not follow any of these steps and is a grey cloud darkening your day.
Please know that just because they are acting that way towards you or maybe many people, it doesn't mean you have to pass it on. I know it can be hard and negativity can be super contagious but as long as in your heart you wash your hands of the things that they say each day then you are stunting the overcrowding of rainclouds that they want lurking around.

People that don't t.h.i.n.k thrive off of the things that they say spreading through numerous people until a whole morale is pulled down. Remember that like when someone around you has a cold, you have to just keep on washing your hands to ensure it doesn't spread to you, keep on t.h.i.n.king before you speak and eventually they'll go away, just like that sickness bug that's been 'going around'

I saw this T.H.I.N.K quote on Pinterest, and I believe it should be hung up in every school and work environment everywhere!

What do you think?

You're just 'write' for me!

Saturday, 4 February 2012

Need a valentines day present in double quick time?

Try one of these adorable pencil holders with a sweet little note on it!
This owl is just the sweetest one ever and perfect to hand out to all your friends!

http://inspirationforhome.blogspot.com/search/label/Craft

The one that I'm going to make is a holder in the shape of a heart and then written on it is 'your just write for me!'
Especially fun if you have a friend or loved one that likes writing or drawing
OR...
If you have got less than 5 minutes to bring together something then grab a sticky note and on it write 'I love you today because...'
and then maybe just a few words on why you love that person nd stick it somewhere they'll see (fridge, bathroom mirror, school locker, tucked under car window wiper, in a coat pocket etc)
You don't need to spend out on fancy boxes of chocolates or teddy bears or any other extravagent goodies really.
Kind words mean so much more to those that we care about!
