New video: Looking better when you feel ill

Friday, 3 August 2012

I wish I had a better camera to truly pick up the difference between the before and after, but hopefully you can tell that I'm less blemish-y and the redness around my nose has been zapped away!

My video is as follows:
But if you're super short on time I'll give you a brief outline and additional tips below!

- I avoided moisturisers while feeling all yucky and flu-like because I already felt super sweaty and gross, and didn't want to slather anything over my skin.
-If I really have to face the world while feeling gross I apply concealer to the redness on my nose, my blemishes, eyelids and under eye circles.
-I prefer to dust a super lightweight foundation all over my skin over the top of the concealer to make my skin tone appear much more even
-I dust the smallest amount of blusher on my cheeks to stop me looking 'ghost like'
-I apply vaseline to my lips (pots are more hygenic than tubes)
Adterwards don't forget to cleanse all the brushes that you used, and I washed the lid to the foundation that I used aswell (as I swirled the brush in the lid)

Other top tips:
-Using a seperate toothbrush for 'being ill' and keeping it in your bedroom if you share a bathroom with other people so that toothbrushes don't have to 'mingle'
-Get lots of sleep, as much as you can!
-When you can, remove all your makeup and apply vaseline to your nostrils if they are sore and red from blowing your nose too much
-Drinking peppermint tea is a great way to open up your airways and it's warm and soothing!

Sending lots of 'get well' wishes your way!

Oh-Flu I haven't missed you

Wednesday, 1 August 2012

I've been struch down with flu-like symptoms, similar to what I had way back in January (and on New Years) that was fun...
It's a real shame because it hurts to sit up, it hurts to see light, I had to close all my shutters so my room was really dark and dim..in the middle of the day!
I can't really get out of bed easily and the light on my laptop screen to type this is turned down as low as possible and in my opinion is still not dark enough as it's making my eyes ache!
I got a little congestion going on, along with a headache and achy joints and nausea, it's all a barrel of laughs!

Last night I slept for an amazing 16 hours straight which has helped a little, but all the congestion seems to be getting worse.

Here are a few things I have been able to stomach, first of all is water, I always have a bottle of water with me.
I can eat a few bits of plain pasta
I can eat a banana but it takes about an hour!
I can eat a few corn thins which are these...
I usually load them up with tomatoes, pesto and olive oil, but plain they were ok

and a little jelly pot!

Something isn't right here...

As the evening has drawn in I don't feel so good, my eyes have gotten a bit weepy, I'm have little bouts of sneezing and I can't stomach a thing!
My eyes feel light sensetive. I hope it's just a 24 hour thing or a quick cold because I've not been having much luck with my immune system lately!

It's painful to look at the screen for too long so I will leave you with this picture and head into sleep and hopefully after a long sleep I'll feel better in the morning!

It's sNOw joke!

A cloud of icing sugar snow cascaded across England making everything everywhere so beautiful!

I woke up around 2 in the morning and quickly whipped out my camera to show you guys, I know that sounds so silly because snow is such a common thing to most people, so I've no idea why I'm still fascinated with it!

Here I do a super quick outfit of the day, and I'm warning you- while it may not be 'mountain climber gear' dull it's certainly not 'Kim Kardashian glam' or anything like that.
So come and see the snowy adventure at my house!
I finished off the day with making a snow-woman in the garden! It was for sure a girl because she has on a pink polka dot scarf and hat! She's named Princess I sure hope she likes the cold!

I hope you're watching this while your snuggled up inside with a warm duvet over you (if it's cold where you are at least)

First o' Feb o' FREEZING

Wednesday, 1 February 2012

Maybe it's cold where you are, or maybe it's not hit the cold scale yet, but here my thermometer on my computer tells me it's 0 degrees! And oh so windy, It's the wind that's the worst-leaving us with chapped cheeks and chilly toes!
Today when I was walking my thighs were actually stinging from the coldness, so I decided it was the right time of year to pull out all the stops and rescue my winter wear from storage, and buy some new pieces (i.e gloves) so that we can all say no to icy limbs in winter! And I promise, it can be done adorably too! We don't all have to look like serious mountain climbers in dodgy waterproofs, we can look fun and bring happiness to the bleak wintery streets and still be lovely and warm.

So first things first, a pair of wooly tights, then leggings, then two pairs of long stripey socks with cords over the top are going to keep you warmer than socks and a pair of heavy jeans. Lots of thin layers amount to much more warmth because air gets trapped between them, making us toasty.

Most of our heat is lost through our head, so this delicious cupcake shaped, lined, wooly hat with beaded sprinkles and a pom pom cherry has been keeping most of the heat in!
I realised I had to take the picture, after I was in my pjs with my makeup off writing this post, but I figured no one would mind my mint green hello kitty pj top, would they?

My most favourite part, is probably my GLOVES, before these beautiful I'd been using some plain cream ones, but these have upstaged THEM ALL

These are my new best friends! Haha, only joking but they do look pretty friendly! I love their cherry red bow ties the most, and I feel like I need to name them, they came all the way from Japan, and if we're pally o' chummy on twitter then you'll know the catastrophe it was to get them, but here they are, and I rescued them from the Post Office holding place and now they're safely and snugly on my fingers.
If you want some of your very own (because well, why wouldn't you?) then snap them up here:

Finally, we must never ever underestimate the difference a scarf makes, it might be one of those things that you only realise you need once you've had it and then forget it one day. I was never major on scarves, 'hey how much difference can a bit of fabric make?' TONS is the real answer! Keeps your neck and chest from being horribly draughty and fills in all the gaps between your coat collar and top, plus you can wrap it up around to your ears if you've got a nice chunky knitted one. I have two so that I can wash them regualrly because they're always all over my face and winter is the time of coughs and colds galore, and we don't want to be spreading germys! Mine are: a black and white patterned one that is actually from Topman I think, and my other one is almost identical in design but the colours of a rainbow!

And after all that, a few more leggings, socks, jumpers and vests I'm out the door, phewwww...

So there you have it, and even if it's not cold where you are, know I'm very envious of the warm weather you have, but when the colder seasons come around for you too, at least you know that short days and grey skies don't have to mean dull  everything!

Happy windy first of February!
