New video: Warming up!

Friday, 4 January 2013

I thought of the best trick ever the other night, I decided to heat my bed up with a hairdryer by blasting the sheets for about 45 seconds before hopping in.

It seriously was one of the greatest ideas I have ever had!

I'm thinking about patenting it!

If you have trouble sleeping this might help you out a little as it's sooo lovely to get into a warm bed and much more relaxing...

Here I demonstrate for you!

Enjoy!

Getting cosy!

Thursday, 20 December 2012

I have just about made these two cosy 'must haves' my absolute best friends since it's getting colder.

One of them has made a special guest appearance in my most recent video:

The other one is a newbie!

They are my Honey Bear hoodie from the David and Goliath shop, it even has fluffy, fleecy ears on the hood, and when I put my hands in the pockets it looks like I'm holding a honey jar! (the picture of me in it does not do it much justice)

It's super duper cosy and they sell them right now!!!

my #2 cosy must have is this thermal cup, I have another thermal cup but it had a silcone hand protector that I got from TK Maxx but the silicone has stretched and worn out over the past year which means that my hands get burneeeed!

Not any more!

A belated birthday present was a brand new hot beverage cup so I am happy happy! I even use this when I'm at home because I often move from room to room before I've finished my hot drink.

If the world really does end tomorrow, I may aswell be cosy!

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Thursday, 6 December 2012

I visited Nottingham and in the centre of the city was a cute little gated off part especially for the Winter Wonderland!

It had a giant snowglobe with a singing snowman inside that was so super cute!

Alongside lots of cute statues like a giant Santa and snowmen.

But the scriest scare-your-socks-off part was the giant ride in the middle called 'North Star' It's basically a merry-go-round but instead of sitting on a pony, you sit on a seat, and instead of being near the ground you're 60 metres in the air, and instead of paying maybe £1.50-£2 you pay £5 for a ticket.

Now 60 Metres you say, that sounds like no big deal really... I've been on rides before right? I even like the big rollercoasters right? Yes, all of these are right.

But nothing really prepared me for how terrifying this was!

I thought there would at least be some buildings as high as we were... but no... we were literally the tallest thing in the whole city (or so it felt) It was completely odd and bizarre to be lingering that high for so long with nothing around but sky.

We didn't even spin quickly, it was like a slow and gentle spin but I seriously was pretty choked up at first because my breath was taken away by how high I felt that I was!

Then soon the cold began to kick in... and kind of nibble away at my fingers and face and I was glad to be returning back to Earth... haha!

NEW WINTER PJS!

Friday, 2 November 2012

As it's getting colder, I can justify getting myself a beautiful new pair of winter PJs and these luscious ones caught my eye.

I know the shops are going mustache crazy, forever 21 has a whole host of moustache knitted jumpers which are very cute.

Then I spotted these babies in River Island!

They have the stripes of a zebra, the mustache of a wise person and the monocle of a gentlemen.

But my favoruite part is that the top is long, and the bottoms are long, I hate wearing shorts and strappy tops to bed, I like long pjs, even in the middle of summer, I don't know why.

The trousers are cuffed so that they don't ride up, and keep my legs toasty all night, which is especially important here as it has been cold every single day, and I think it has rained nearly every single day since I moved in September.

To sum up:
cosy PJS are a justified purchase

AND

I just changed my bedsheets to I can get into my fresh sheets in fresh PJs- hooray!

Knitted outfit of the day

Friday, 19 October 2012

This is my outfit today! My first real 'wintery' outfit even though everything here is old, except the jacket- but I thought i'd share it with you anyway.
On my top I'm wearing a Black vest top from Primark and over the top a navy blue bell-sleeved jumper that's about a year old from Joe Browns, I like it because of the white detailing on the bottom of it.
Around my neck is a scarf from Topman that is super old, but the print on it kind of matches the print on the bottom of the jumper
My jacket was in the sale at Internacionale for £34, I like it because it has studs on the collar, it's kind of edgy and cute
On my bottom half I'm wearing some grey striped shorts that were originally from Topshop but I got them from Ebay, then some thick grey knitted leggings underneth from TK Maxx, you can't see below the knee but I added my charcoal legwarmers and had them poking out from some plain black, low heeled ankle boots from New look

Wintery knits woo-hoo!

Oh My Mickey Mouse!

Saturday, 18 August 2012

It makes me feel sad that winter clothes are back in and sandals and shorts are on the sale rails in stores, we didn't really get a proper summer here, at least it didn’t feel like it. Even more so because I was in England for the whooooooole of summer.

Anywho, I spotted this little cutie pie on the rack at H & M and all of a sudden the day seemed to get brighter, even though now I’m hoping for snowy snow and rain so that I can wear this bad guy!

I love how the Mickey Mouse is actually knitted into the fabric rather than being a transfer over the top so that hopefully it will last longer.

It cost £19.99! The knit of it is super cute too, the sleeves are a different more ‘textured’ knit while the rest is a ‘smooth’ knit

It makes me wish that I could knit myself, I could do a matching Minnie Mouse one, or if I could knit any pattern I’d knit a candy floss jumper with baby blue and pink candy striped sleeves, with the rest being baby blue and a baby pink giant cone of cotton candy on the front!

If you could knit any jumper design what would you knit?

First o' Feb o' FREEZING

Wednesday, 1 February 2012

Maybe it's cold where you are, or maybe it's not hit the cold scale yet, but here my thermometer on my computer tells me it's 0 degrees! And oh so windy, It's the wind that's the worst-leaving us with chapped cheeks and chilly toes!
Today when I was walking my thighs were actually stinging from the coldness, so I decided it was the right time of year to pull out all the stops and rescue my winter wear from storage, and buy some new pieces (i.e gloves) so that we can all say no to icy limbs in winter! And I promise, it can be done adorably too! We don't all have to look like serious mountain climbers in dodgy waterproofs, we can look fun and bring happiness to the bleak wintery streets and still be lovely and warm.

So first things first, a pair of wooly tights, then leggings, then two pairs of long stripey socks with cords over the top are going to keep you warmer than socks and a pair of heavy jeans. Lots of thin layers amount to much more warmth because air gets trapped between them, making us toasty.

Most of our heat is lost through our head, so this delicious cupcake shaped, lined, wooly hat with beaded sprinkles and a pom pom cherry has been keeping most of the heat in!
I realised I had to take the picture, after I was in my pjs with my makeup off writing this post, but I figured no one would mind my mint green hello kitty pj top, would they?
From Joe Browns Catalogue Winter 2010

My most favourite part, is probably my GLOVES, before these beautiful I'd been using some plain cream ones, but these have upstaged THEM ALL

These are my new best friends! Haha, only joking but they do look pretty friendly! I love their cherry red bow ties the most, and I feel like I need to name them, they came all the way from Japan, and if we're pally o' chummy on twitter then you'll know the catastrophe it was to get them, but here they are, and I rescued them from the Post Office holding place and now they're safely and snugly on my fingers.
If you want some of your very own (because well, why wouldn't you?) then snap them up here:

Finally, we must never ever underestimate the difference a scarf makes, it might be one of those things that you only realise you need once you've had it and then forget it one day. I was never major on scarves, 'hey how much difference can a bit of fabric make?' TONS is the real answer! Keeps your neck and chest from being horribly draughty and fills in all the gaps between your coat collar and top, plus you can wrap it up around to your ears if you've got a nice chunky knitted one. I have two so that I can wash them regualrly because they're always all over my face and winter is the time of coughs and colds galore, and we don't want to be spreading germys! Mine are: a black and white patterned one that is actually from Topman I think, and my other one is almost identical in design but the colours of a rainbow!

And after all that, a few more leggings, socks, jumpers and vests I'm out the door, phewwww...

So there you have it, and even if it's not cold where you are, know I'm very envious of the warm weather you have, but when the colder seasons come around for you too, at least you know that short days and grey skies don't have to mean dull  everything!

Happy windy first of February!

Birthdays and Camera troubles

Friday, 20 January 2012

Today I've been wrestling with my camera once again to recover lost videos that I've had recorded for some time now, I'm not going to give in and share what they are yet because I still have hope of them being edited and uploaded, but my camera at present is refusing to turn on.

After the frustrations of that I went to dinner for my friends birthday and then a group of us stayed at her house, it was fun to have a slumber party like back when we were little. I sported a cow print onesie for jammies, it was a christmas present and it came from Primark, they did all other kids of fun prints, tigers, paw prints and blue stars! I liked my cow one the best and it kept me snug because there wasn't much bedding between eight of us and it's pretty freezing in Janurary to sleep without a blanket!

Last night was a great night for inspiration as I've been waiting for a great Valentines day makeup tutorial to pop into my head and a little something came together in my thoughts yesterday so I'm looking foward to filming that and showing you guys what I've come up with!
I love taking requests so show me what you've got and I'll try and make it happen (trying to avoid the smokey eyes though, Youtube is all smoked out!)
Whatever time it is where you are, have a great rest of your day and I'll 'blog you later!'
(instead of see you later, geddit?)

Chapped Cheeks

Thursday, 19 January 2012

I've been battling with my oily skin since I hit my early teens, I tried all sorts to change it including drying it out with the most vicious remedies possible before coming to the conclusion that I could throw any paste, formula or lotion at it and at the end of the day, I would still have oily skin.

It's like dying your hair, you can dye it a rainbow of colours, but it doesn't stop your hair from being the colour it truly is underneath all that dye.

However, this winter is the first time my skin has been dry for a prolonged period and it's right along the top of my cheekbones where I put my highlight colour when I'm doing my makeup. As a result I've had to give up powder foundation for a while and go back to my Laura Mercier tinted moisuriser but the chapping has eased a little since, I've also been going to bed with a streak of Bio Oil across the dry patches too. That's my simple but magic-make-shift remedy for chapped cheeks!
