Getting green and smokey!

Thursday, 5 July 2012

In the daytime I like my makeup a little lighter, but at nighttime I think nothing screams glamour like a smokey eye. I usually go for browns and greys but today I took out an old January favourite from the makeup range Fashionista (read me rant about the name here ) and mixed it into this look!

Here's how I got it:
1.Primed my eyes using Bare Escentuals eye primer
2.Coated the whole eyelid in a light green shadow called 'Green Guild' from Fashionista
3.From the outer corner I dolloped a darker green called 'Envy' from Fashionista and blended it towards the inner corner of my eye to make a pretty gradient
4.Used a darker green from Sleeks Sparkle pallette- it's the same colour as christmas trees and placed that in the same place as 'Envy' but instead I blend it only across the first quarter-ish of my eye so that you can still see 'Envy' underneath and it doesn't become a muddy mess.
5.I use a matte black and run that along the crease of my eye and smoke it out with a fluffy brush
6. Using the same black eyeshadow and taking a thin eyeliner brush i run that along the upper lash line and half way along the lower- this way it's not as harsh as liquid liner and fits in with a 'smokey' look.
7. On the browbone to make a crisp contrast I uses Loreal Color Infaillable in shade 001 Time Resist White
8. Using a brow brush and and an eyeshadow in shade 'Folie' from Mac I run the colour through my brows lightly, and slowly builing up the shape and thickness I'd like
9. I finished off with a few layers of Bare Escentuals black mascara

Although nine steps is an awkward number, this look has no more steps!
So there you have it, a green smokey eye- enjoy!

Friday Funsies!

Friday, 2 March 2012

Today I went to a surprise meal for one of my closest friends birthdays- it was so much fun to see a plan come together pretty much without hitch (although a little earlier today I said to her 'we can talk about all this tonight!' and she said 'yeah, why whats tonight?' and upon realising what I had just said I responded 'sorry, not tonight - I mean when we meet up next weekend' Luckily she said she didn't suspect!) -phew-
We ate at 'La Tasca' which is Spanish food and I had some meatballs, chicken croquettes and mushrooms - it was good!
I have a fun 'before' and 'after' for you:

Here I am, around 7pm this evening- wearing my new jacket that makes an appearance in my video 'Shopping for charity' a charcoal smokey eye, Body shop lip tint with Bare Minerals lip gloss over the top in shade Destiny- Looking all wide eyed and made up!

And here I am a little over four hours later! In my jammies and ready to settle down into bed, flat hair, no gloss, no earrings and no fancy jackets.

I love wearing a full face, but not as much as I love to be cosy in bed with a squeaky clean face, it's like falling asleep in fresh sheets, it just feels 'better'

Birthdays and Camera troubles

Friday, 20 January 2012

Today I've been wrestling with my camera once again to recover lost videos that I've had recorded for some time now, I'm not going to give in and share what they are yet because I still have hope of them being edited and uploaded, but my camera at present is refusing to turn on.

After the frustrations of that I went to dinner for my friends birthday and then a group of us stayed at her house, it was fun to have a slumber party like back when we were little. I sported a cow print onesie for jammies, it was a christmas present and it came from Primark, they did all other kids of fun prints, tigers, paw prints and blue stars! I liked my cow one the best and it kept me snug because there wasn't much bedding between eight of us and it's pretty freezing in Janurary to sleep without a blanket!

Last night was a great night for inspiration as I've been waiting for a great Valentines day makeup tutorial to pop into my head and a little something came together in my thoughts yesterday so I'm looking foward to filming that and showing you guys what I've come up with!
I love taking requests so show me what you've got and I'll try and make it happen (trying to avoid the smokey eyes though, Youtube is all smoked out!)
Whatever time it is where you are, have a great rest of your day and I'll 'blog you later!'
(instead of see you later, geddit?)
