It is true what they say, and by 'they' I mean the beauty philosophers of ancient Greece... All Makeup Primers/ Bases are not made equal, as I expensively discovered.
My sisters wedding is fast approaching and I've taken my role as Maid Of Honour rather seriously up until this point, and how I look on the day is a rather important factor. Lots of lucky girls can take for granted that they will look lovely but my blotched and pimpled and scarred face makes things... a little more challenging. You can see the full extent of my skin at the start of any makeup video where I often do a quick before and after.
So you can imagine my delight when in Boots I came across the Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Adjust Foundation Primer. It was hard to miss it as it is pea green and stands out in its clear tube. I picked up the sample and thought 'well this looks interesting, I wonder if it will clear up my redness' As I already had a face full of makeup on I decided a blob over my noticeable freckle on my right hand would have to do, I'd see how it covered that up.
Truth be told I didn't notice a difference in the freckles colour, it didn't look camouflaged to me, even with a bit of foundation sample over the top. However, the wonderful texture of this product had captured my heart. It was creamy but absorbed into the skin wonderfully, which is no small task with my un-penetrable oily skin. While I nearly fell over backwards at paying £25 for the full sized, i spotted the mini size for a fairly reasonable £12.50 and I decided it was more than worth a shot if it would do the trick.
After cleansing my skin, I applied a generous amount and I have to say I am very let down. While it created a nice base to put my makeup over, a £4 primer would do the same. I bought if for its colour theory properties to cancel out my redness, but this barely even touched the redness. Nor did I notice my makeup lasting particularly longer.
The final push to invest in this product unfortunately came from watching a YouTube video that was in full support of these primers and made a special mention to the wonderfulness of the green primer. I feel let down and slightly robbed.
It is by no means a bad product and the texture is pleasant between my fingers without being greasy but this was probably a product made for the 'so-called' acne which consists of the occasional, single red chin spot - not a face full of one breakout.

Yo Sushi Yo Shopping
Wednesday, 24 July 2013
I haven't eaten at Yo Sushi for over a year, but my mama and I decided to eat there again for a fun conveyor belt lunch!
I ate my favourite first of all which was the green beans in salt, you have to suck and pop the pods, eat the beans inside and discard the pod, they're like delicious savoury snacks, better than crisps!
I had a sweet and sour chicken-y thing, some other California rolls, one was rolled in chilli powder so I gave that to my mama that was a little too spicy for me. I also had a bottomless cup of miso soup which I love love love!
I had three refills!
Then for the first time we were tempted by the conveyor belt desserts! We shared a plate of rice balls with a chocolate filling and they were to our surprise not a fondant texture at all, but a real gooey, squishy texture which felt really nice to pinch! They were not too sweet and had a very distinct rice flavor, but were delicious.
Then we shared some custard filled pancakes with a strawberry sauce that tasted like crushed strawberries. They were even more delicious, but by this point I was feeling rather sick as we had acquired a huge pile of plates!
Then we did a little shopping and this was by far my favorite front page of the newspapers to announce the arrival of the royal baby
I was treated courtesy of my mother to a 'summer onesie' which are the comfiest summer pjs ever! it was the last one left in the Next sale
I then got this adorable rose jumper from the Zara sale which was £7.99!
And finally, a mini version of the green toned Smashbox face primer. the sample felt amazing on my skin, and I'm looking for a primer to cancel out the redness of my horrible blemishes, I'm yet to see how good it is! The full priced bottle is £25, which took my breath away a little, so I treated myself to the cuter size for £12

Happy St Patricks Day!
Sunday, 17 March 2013
Of course the theme is green!
Here is my green eye makeup!
I used Shamrock by Madison Street Beauty on Etsy for the outer corner, and Half Baked by Urban Decay on the inner corner and blended them a little with a nude colour on the brow bone and a lot of Folie by MAC along the crease to shop the green being an eye sore
I'm wearing a brown eyeliner on the top and bottom lash line with half baked along the inner of the lower lashline and lots of mascara!
Here is my outfit:
and I'm out like a light!

Green with envy at my outift?
Monday, 24 September 2012
I'm out on a themed night, can I get a woop woop?
The theme?
Green! Great... I first thought it might be mint green but no it was just the greenest green-green
So I got to wear a delightful green jersey tshirt (thank you Primark, £3) talk about creativity with my clothing there... and paired it with some black trousers from TK Maxx and Boot-Heels from Ebay
At least I felt comfy, even if not really all that dressy!
I ended up putting a jacket with it too that had some over the top shoulder structure which jazzed the ensemble up a little, then finished it off with a green smokey eye because there's no way I wear enough green based makeup

Bathing in GOO
Friday, 13 July 2012
I was drawing myself a bath when I stumbled upon a container filled with bath tablets that turn your bath water a fun, bright colour! I had forgotten that I even had them, as I think they were from the kids section in Boots bath gimmicks.
So I just threw the last two in the water and waited to see what happened!
This is what happened!
It looked like I had a bath of goo, it didn't stain anything even though it was so super-vibrant and it made my bath a little more fun! Though I've no idea what drew me to buying someting so useless...

Getting green and smokey!
Thursday, 5 July 2012
In the daytime I like my makeup a little lighter, but at nighttime I think nothing screams glamour like a smokey eye. I usually go for browns and greys but today I took out an old January favourite from the makeup range Fashionista (read me rant about the name here ) and mixed it into this look!
Here's how I got it:
1.Primed my eyes using Bare Escentuals eye primer
2.Coated the whole eyelid in a light green shadow called 'Green Guild' from Fashionista
3.From the outer corner I dolloped a darker green called 'Envy' from Fashionista and blended it towards the inner corner of my eye to make a pretty gradient
4.Used a darker green from Sleeks Sparkle pallette- it's the same colour as christmas trees and placed that in the same place as 'Envy' but instead I blend it only across the first quarter-ish of my eye so that you can still see 'Envy' underneath and it doesn't become a muddy mess.
5.I use a matte black and run that along the crease of my eye and smoke it out with a fluffy brush
6. Using the same black eyeshadow and taking a thin eyeliner brush i run that along the upper lash line and half way along the lower- this way it's not as harsh as liquid liner and fits in with a 'smokey' look.
7. On the browbone to make a crisp contrast I uses Loreal Color Infaillable in shade 001 Time Resist White
8. Using a brow brush and and an eyeshadow in shade 'Folie' from Mac I run the colour through my brows lightly, and slowly builing up the shape and thickness I'd like
9. I finished off with a few layers of Bare Escentuals black mascara
Although nine steps is an awkward number, this look has no more steps!
So there you have it, a green smokey eye- enjoy!

Sunday Blues? Nuh-uh! Sunday Greens!
Sunday, 22 April 2012
I wanted to try out my new vegan makeup from Madison Street Beauty and pulled together this fresh and light green look. It's very subtle and daytime. And as usual super duper easy.
Here's the breakdown of what it took:
Once you've applied primer to your eyelids, start off by applying a light coral-y shade all over your eyelid, I used Opal by MSB (Madison Street Beauty)
Then a bright matte green on the outer corner, this is Shamrock by MSB and blend the centre of your eyelid to look like a gradient from coral to green.
Right on the outer corner do a little dab of a rich, sparkly green- I used Enchanted Forest by MSB
Blend the sparkly green into the crease and be sure not to muddy the grandient from the matte green to coralApply a brown eyeliner as close as you to the lashline so that it is just a thin, almost unnoticeable line but it will still make your lashline look thicker. Bring the brown eyeliner down to the waterline.
Use a highlight colour on the browbone, I used Stardust by MSB and then you're done!
Quick breakdown of the rest of the face:
Eye Primer: Painterly by MAC
Blusher: Desert Rose MAC
Bronzer: Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick
Lips: Elemis chapstick
Highlighter: Snowglobe by MAC
Clouds of mint green
Wednesday, 8 February 2012
I am very excited that pastel colours are deemed the 'in' colours of this and next season. I've always had a huge love for that pastel mint colour, a kind of bluey-green that is just delicious to look at but findig clothes in such a specific colour is not always so easy, until now!
I came across this jacket which I am just drooling over
I love the stud detail, and the colour is just so perfect! I found it on Pinterest, so where it came from will probably be forever a mystery!
I love this mint satchel

I love this mint satchel

Although I put my bags through their paces so I imagine the suede would get grubby pretty quickly
and finally, what I love the most are these mint jeans, which unfortunately look as though they've sold out, which is too bad as I imagine these to look perfect with some crisp white shoes!

Sweet peppermint dreams! And do you like the pastel trend?
