New video makeup tutorial Miley Cyris wrecking ball!

Tuesday, 1 October 2013

She may not be everyone's favorite gal, and even less so idol or role model, but I wanted to create her pretty makeup look, don't worry I don't hop into my white y fronts and swing around.
It's very simple, and very classic to wear a bold red lip, a flawless pale face and black liquid eyeliner. It does make her blue eyes pop!

Maid of Honour Makeup - Summer Wedding!

Sunday, 11 August 2013

I did a few 'practices' of makeup for my sisters wedding this month, which I think is a good idea. I recommend taking a picture too to check that you like how it looks under flash photography. After all, pictures will be the only reminder left of the day so you want to look hawt!

My first trial looked something like this:

I knew that I wanted a very neutral eye and a pinky lip, I ended up using just two eyeshadows, Shroom all over the eyelid and up to the brow bone, and then Folie very gently added to the crease. Then I used a brown eyeliner on the water line for the outer half, and a white eyeliner on the inner half of the waterline. Of course mascara too. On my lips I'm wearing Revlon Lip balm pencil in shade Honey. At this point blusher etc was miscellaneous, and I can see here that my foundation is too light under photography flashes in comparison to my neck.

Here I've made a few revisions! I've got highlighting powder on, eye products are virtually the same and the lipstick I changed to Lovelorn by Mac which I prefer! I think that it gave a more 'pretty' look and made my eyes pop a little more!

The end result is something I'll create a makeup tutorial for you guys to follow, I was wearing a hell of a lot of makeup, but it stayed all day and disguised my blemished skin.
For now, I present to you the pdf that I created for the bridesmaids to follow:

Your skin loves vodka

Friday, 12 October 2012

This is my tip top cleansing trick that uses vodka

Important notes:

This is obviously only appropriate for those who are the age of or above the legal drinking age in their country otherwise purchasing alcohol is illegal
This is not an oppertunity to raid your parents drink cabinet and claim that it's for the benefit of good health
I am recommeding vodka as a skin cleanser only, never ever as a drink

Step 1:
Wash your face as normal with a regular face wash (now is a good time to exfoliate too to really get into those pores

Step 2:
Drench a flannel in hot water (not so hot that it will burn you) then place it flat on your face so that the heat can open your pores up for 30 seconds-1 minute

-Now is a good time to have a go at those pesky blocked pores on your nose

Step 3:
Take a cotton pad and dampen it with vodka (about as much as you would use when coating a cotton pad in nail polish remover)

Step 4:
Wipe away the remaining grub that you thought wasn't even there! And admire the grime that would have been sitting on your skin as you slept

The vodka works just like any astringent, it even has the smell of one! Aswell as getting rid of the last traces of muck, it closes up the pores again to stop them being wide open and filled up with more gunk

Step 5:
Moisturise as normal, happy days! Happy skin!

Top tip: If you like this trick, but don't like the look of an ugly vodka bottle in your bathroom cabinet, pour it into an empty astringent bottle if possible, or one of those empty travel cosmetic containers for when you only want to take some of your product on holiday

Hello Kitty Curls

Saturday, 28 April 2012

Saturdays are the perfect days where you have a little more time to give your hair a little more
'ooh-la-la' there is nothing particularly Hello Kitty about the curls other than I'm wearing a hello kitty jumper!

Here it is! My insanely easy and not-so-slow loose, perfectly-imperfect mermaid curls

First of all, split your hair into an upper and lower layer, and clip up the top layer (you might need to split it into more clipped up layers if your hair is super thick)

Pinch at little sections of the bottom layer of your hair and place it between the plates of the straighteners

Holding the straightener pointing downwards, begin in the middle of the hair strand so that only the ends are curled and it looks more 'loose and natural' twist the straighteners to wrap the hair around the straighteners and slowly pull the straighteners downwards so that the hair is pulled out between the plates. It's super important to do it in a kind of slow and graceful motion, like when you use scissors to curl ribbon!

Here's a little looky at how my curls looked!

Once you've curled the bottom layer, pull at small sections of hair from clip that seperates off the next layer

...And do the same again as you did on the bottom layer, same technique with the straighteners pointing downwards and curling like ribbon, but rather than beginning half way down the hair you may want to start twisting closer to the root for more curl and body to your hair

Keep going all the way around your head until you have pulled all the hair from the clip seperating the curly from the straight hair. If your arm gets tired have a little break- maybe a quick snack!

The end result! Wonderfully, natural looking waves that just ooze glamour but are super simple and can be done with a straightening iron curlers, mousse or even hair spray is really needed!

And while we're here.... We may aswell have a quick look what I wore today, it's not super exciting

A baggy Hello Kitty jumper that looks like it was from some 80s dance movie where baggy dance gear was 'all the rage'! I wore a white vest underneth because it's kind of cold today!

Then some simple black treggings on the bottom, they're super comfy stretchy and go with everything, I got them from TKMaxx
(of course, the thick hello kitty socks are the most glamorous part of this outfit, theyre from H&M)

For my Make up that I wore today I'll do a little step-by-step for that tomorrow otherwise this post will be a bajillion pictures long and you might fall asleep half way through! Haha

How to do makeup VEGAN STYLE

Wednesday, 18 April 2012

So I had a little trawl through my eyeshadows and realised that I was lacking fresh spring time colours, mostly I have a lot of pressed colours that have dark undertones or perfect for a smokey eye, but nothing that was really zingy and fresh. So my port of call for inspiration was Etsy, which is a frequent port of call of mine for the last year or so. I was amazed to come across a huge range of vegan makeup, made in a little studio, one at a time.

I never really thought about small, independant makeup companies before but it's so super important to support people trying to make it, especially if there products are great!

So I came across Madison Street Beauty's Etsy store:

I was enchanted mostly by the beautiful blue hazes (and some delicious names) and got a little carried away in my buying, but I could justify it for three reasons.
1. They were having a 60% off sale
2. They had incredible reviews
3. Makeup that is cruelty free and naturally coloured with NO chemicals is a beautiful break for the skin, especially delicate eye are

So here's what I got:

The quality of them is lovely, they're just messy (as are all loose powders) I love Sea Foam and Mermaid the most, I want to do a gorgeous blue look with these and a soft brown in the crease, I think that would look so spring time and dreamy!

The great thing is that because you don't get to see and test the product they include swatches in the pictures, so here's the swatches of the ones that I got!

Electric Periwinkle

Enchanted Forest

Mermaid

Opal

Seafoam

Shamrock

Stardust

Tiffany Blue
Important details:
-They sell blushers and highlighters and chap sticks too
-An eyeshdow is normally £3.35 but in the 60% off sale I paid £1.30 eeek!
-The 60% off sale finishes today!!!
-If you miss it, here is a coupon code to get 20% off all year round, from my heart to yours! (Well, more like Madison Street Beauty's heart to yours)
TY2BAR (you can't combine it with the 60% off sale for 80% off unfortunately

First bloom of Spring!

Thursday, 22 March 2012

I'm very relieved to be able to finally upload my first makeup tutorial for spring.
It's very beautiful and understated- and blue is one of the freshest colours that there is (except for maybe a lime green)
So we most definately should put it on our eyes to signify the new season.

I especially love this look for the afternoon/evening- garden parties and Spring Flings and all other shenanigans that one might get up to on Spring nights!

Let me know if you'll 'dare to wear' a blue eye this Spring- even if you wear blue all the time!

Mirror mirror on the tray...

Tuesday, 28 February 2012

Ever since I watched the 'Whatisstyletonickel' video on Youtube about his perfume collection (which I'll link below)  I fell in love with the mirrored tray he had his perfumes sat on.

It's from www.anangelatmytable.com ,which is an online store specialising in luxury french home decoration.
I'm not a major fan of gold home decor, but I loved the little feet on the tray, it gives it that cute little luxurious edge.
So I headed onto www.anangelatmytable.com and found the same beautiful tray in silver!

Everything about it was perfect except for the fact that it was 'temporarily out of stock' and £25.
I've been checking back pretty much every day for the past month wondering:
1. if it will be in stock
2. if i can justify buying another decoration for my room that I don't actually need.

Upon my second search of the day on www.anangelatmytable.com just incase they'd updated their stock mid day- I was struck by the tempting offer that looked like this!

I clicked hurredly wondering just why this beautiful tray was 50% off and what made it a slight second- it turned out that it's due to 'slight marking' on the mirror tray part. 'No problemo' I thought, because I can just cover any marks with perfume bottles!

Although I clicked my way to the online check out faster than ever before in my life, it turns out I needn't have worried! As there are still some 50% off trays available in both silver AND gold! Although what makes the gold tray a 'slight second' is for a different reason to the silver trays (due to a gap between the mirror and the edge)

And here is the beautiful tray itself that arrived on my doorstep today, and honestly, truly I think it makes no difference with the 'slight markings' as long as the tray isn't empty, and who peers into empty trays in your bedroom/bathroom/any room anyway?

Here's a little close up of the pesky smudgy marking!
So perhaps your a perfectionist and you'd rather wait until the full priced one comes back in stock or for another tray altogether, but I'm super happy that it was out of stock now as it meant I had to wait until it was restocked at half off, I know this often isn't the case with lots of stores- if you don't snap it up when you see it, you regret it later when it's gone, and I predict it won't be much longer until even the 'slight seconds' are gone too!

Here's Richie Nickel's video!
