A good judgement of my 'essential' fragrances are the ones that sit on my desk in my new room away from home. I have other perfumes, but I couldn't take them all, so I have a small handful now which I can now confirm must be my favourites!
So here's what they are:
The purple heart lying on my desk is Loverdose by Diesel. I had a free sample of it and used that until it ran dry. I was then given a full sized bottle for my birthday so you can imagine my excitement! It's a scent I would certainly call a 'night' fragrance because it's quite heavy and rich- but I'm not really someone who changes up my scents that often nor do I have the resources to! But if you are, that's a little FYI- but I tend to wear it all day just because I love it so much. The smell is floral, but not light floral like roses, and it's also sweet. The bottle is so lvoely it's like having a precious gem on my desk! And it has a black spike in the midle of it which is interesting (after taking this picture I then realised that the bottle is meant to sit on it's side and does so nicely, rather than flat on it's back like a beached whale..haha)
The tall pink bottle is a Victoria Secret Fragrance Mist in red plum and freesia. This is really light as a fragrance and while I love it, it doesn't have much staying power so when you go out in the evening it's maybe better to overdose on this one so that it will stay on for a little longer. Is is super super sweet, probably the sweetest fragrance Victoria Secret do in their Body Mists as that is why I chose it! I love sweetie scents.
Then I have Burberry Baby Touch, which is a super light fragrance and to sum it up it smells like babies- but not smelly babies, kind of like that clean baby scent... I hope I don't sound like a creep that goes around sniffing babies! It smells mostly of vanilla and sweetness and the packaging is cute as the base is curved so rocks like a baby toy or something.
The next two are not perfumes but 'mists' the green bottle is good for stress relief, so I spray it on my clothes before exams or on my pillow the night before a nervous day. It smells really lovely as it's mint, mint is one of my favourite fragrances! The purple bottle is only meant for your linen and is meant to help you get to sleep- I havent used it yet because I hardly have problems getting to sleep, I need a zingy spray to help me wake up!
You smell good!

Flower girls.. awhh
Tuesday, 9 October 2012
Here's a little update on the latest with my sisters wedding and it's to do with the cutests members of the wedding party- the flower girls.
we've done some browsing over the past few months for flower girls dresses off the rail but my sister knew that above all she wanted the dress to be cute and childish looking, not like a minature adult dress. This included a cute ribbon/bow or flowers and little cap sleeves. Surprisingly most flower girl dresses seem to have no sleeves at all, to find one with little cap sleeves was unusual or they were usually first holy communion dresses.
Then I came across this pretty dress in a pattern book and it captured my imagination, I love the pretty little ruffle flowers and sleeve type and on the back it has a cute little ribbon too!
I took a picture of it and sent it to my sister who agreed that it was the prettiest flower girl dress we had ever seen, so I got the paper pattern and now this is the dress-to-be... but not in pink!
Isn't it so lovable?
It was a child Vogue pattern and it had 40% off so cost the sweet price of £4.95!

Fancy Night!
Monday, 8 October 2012
Last night I went out on a 'fancy night' where there was a strict dress code, I was really exicted because everything had to be a little bit classy, that meant no denim knickers...I mean shorts, no slouchy slouch and everything nice and dressy dress! Men have to wear collars, nice trousers and smart shoes too and if you don't comply you say bye-bye! Also, you have to buy tickets beforehand- you can't just show up and go on in! This is what I settled on wearing:
My dress is from Forever21 and I bought it in the January sale, I got it even cheaper because it had a hole by the zip, but i wore a black skirt underneth and pulled it up to where the hole is so you couldn't even see it. One of these days I'll sew it up.
I opted for black ribbed tights that are kind of opaque to keep it classy!
My shoes are a fabric pair of plain black heels new from ebay, and my jacket that I wore is my trusty H and M (but actually from a charity shop) black jacket that I always wear on nights out!
Hooray for fancy pants!

Lets go to the movies: Looper
Sunday, 7 October 2012
I was persuaded that going to the cinema to see Looper (not Taken 2, that I really wanted to see) was a good idea.
Here's my movie lowdown:
The concept of the film is time travel- it's set 30-ish years in the future and time travel has been invented but was immediately made illegal. So the only people that do time travel are gangster-type people who send people to the past where a gun waits to kill them, because it's much easier to hide a body then rather than in the modern day where technology is all tip-top.
So why is it called Looper?
Crime bosses turn to time travel to send their targets to the past to be killed using "loopers" When crime bosses want to end a looper's contract, they send his older version back to be killed by his younger self, referred to as 'closing the loop'
Then alongside all this a section of the population have been given some magical coin floating powers that seems kind of irrelevant for a long time
If it sounds a bit weird, it's because it is! It's been referred to as the new 'Matix' but to be honest, I didn't really like that movie...
To sum up it's a lot of guns (a lot) a lot of death (a lot a lot) and a lot of time travel and concentrating so that you don't miss something important!
I hope I havent put you off, I think it just either is your sort of film or it isn't.. and this sort of isn't!

It's gym time!
Saturday, 6 October 2012
It's the new academic year, which means new memberships to all kinds of delights, the most financially testing however is the gym membership- awooo
Insert obviously horrible membership photograph here:
It's as though these machines have no choice but to make you look hideous.
Take a vote, which picture was worse... This year or last years?
After forking out my arm and leg for membership fees, I needed to buy some new gym clothes that would be appropriate, aswell as trainers. Then I remembered Forever 21 to the rescue! The gym clothes there were so cheap I nearly did cartwheels in the shop, a pair of cropped yoga trousers for £4.50?! Yes please
I also got a sports bra which had a less amazing price of £10 or so, but then I decided that's one area of gym kit you shouldn't skimp on, aswell as shoes.
And I'm good to gooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Jazzy Jumpers
Friday, 5 October 2012
I don't really know why but I always prefer my autumn/winter clothes over my summer ones, I think they are just more fun- perhaps it's because we have such long autumns and winters and a really short summer so I invest much more time into looking for wonderful winter clothes that will get much more use
These are my two most recent treasures! I love them so much
this is a pink knitted jumper with teddy bear print. It has purple buttons running along the shoulder which is very cute- and better still it has NO LABELS! Which leads me to believe that it was hand made by some nifty knitter and maybe is a one of a kind!
The next one is sooooo seventies I love it, It has a fabric clown holding balloons- since it was just my birthday, it reminded me of a birthday jumper, but if only I had found it in time for my birthday... ah well, it's still super cute to wear on a regular day too
Do you like fun knit jumpers too? Or would wearing these make you feel like a Kindergarden teacher?

Birthday aftermath and I betcha weren't expecting that!
Thursday, 4 October 2012
It's officially the end of my birthday, and now today is someone elses birthday- maybe yours? I always find letting go of birthdays hard, I don't like retraining myself to say that I am another year older because the age I have just been is always in my mind 'the best age' until the following year, and then that age becomes the new 'best age'. Maybe I get sad when my birthday is over because I have doubt that my next year can be even better than the past, although it has been so far!
So here's my little birthday wrap up, aside all the commotion- because people always ask me 'what did you get for your brithday' and I can never remember! So here is a little peep into some of the most unexpected presents that I bet you never thought I'd get!
An electric toothbrush, since leaving my old one at home I've really not enjoyed using a manual- it just doesn't give the same 'zing' feeling of clean
A Bobble water bottle- it has an in built filter that filters as you drink, you just replace the filter every couple of months hooray! I really don't like the taste of most tap waters but paying for bottles of water is such a drag
A new hairdryer- nothing super fancy, just mine was a million years old and I was a little worried it might just blow up on me!
Some multivitamins- They are mother approved
A box of Peppermint tea- My favourite!
A new jar of Burts Bees banana hand cream, if you know me, you know I actually go weak at the knees at the smell of this stuff and I was in need of a new jar...

Yip-a-dee-doo for weird and wonderful presents!
It's my birthdaaaaaay!

Another sweet birthday has passed on by and now I can't believe it's all over
It's been filled with delightfully pink candyfloss clouds of love and happiness so I simply cannot complain.
I love birthday gestures that indicate that people just 'know' you, like how my friends made me Barbie cupcakes using one of those kiddy mixes, because they know I think Barbie is the queen of sass and style!
And how my roomate knows that I get excited over recieving mail, so she put my birthday card in the post box rather than just handing it to me over breakfast!
And how my mum travelled hours just to see me on my birthday and shower me in lots of love! And lots of brithday cake... this was my cake, a hot pink pig!
It tasted so amazing, after those Percy Pig sweets they sell in Marks and Spencers, so the icing was a delicious strawberry scented goodness, I love birthday cake so much that I think all birthday cakes should be sponge cakes, chocolate to me seems more like an 'all year round' cake
To top it all off, we ate in Wagamama's and I had the Cha han of course (no prawns, extra chicken) and it was yum-a-dee-doo
P.S If you were wondering about presents, I'm kind of weird with them, I like to keep them all together in a pile in the corner of my room and not put them away for about a week so that I can just absorb them in and look at them all together in one go, even if I use something that I got for my birthday I will put it back in the 'birthday pile' for example, a bottle of perfume- I would use some of it then place it in its original packaging back in the pile- I don't know why I do this, I have done it since I can remember! I do it at Christmas too- I just have a hard time putting presents away!

Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow
Tuesday, 2 October 2012
Tomorrow is one of my most favourite days in the whole year...
It's my birthday!
I am very excited for tomorrow but celebrated with my friends tonight. This brithday is my first birthday ever away from home so it's already going to be different from the rest- but luckily home is coming to me and my mum is coming to visit for the whole of my birthday so it won't be too odd after all.
I was totally delighted when I opened my mailbox this morning and saw a small wedge of pretty envelopes inside, I love recieving mail when it's fun mail!
This is my 'pre birthday night' outfit or a little corner shot of it, I'm wearing my pink ruffly satin shirt that was from Topshop but I got it in a second hand store for super duper cheap and then some black trousers made from 'leggings' material, then my comfy black heels and a shoulder-pad jacket.
On my eyes I'm wearing the Naked Palette, a combination of Virgin, Smog, Darkhorse and Sin
A little side note is these crazy toilet doors in a bar that we went, they were opaque from the outside, but when you were in the cubicle you could see straight out- oh my gosh it was so confusing! I felt like everyone could watch me pee!
Here was my secret view
Woohoo for crazy toilet decor and almost-birthdays!

Got 15 minutes?
Monday, 1 October 2012
This is how to make some finger-licking (although you don't eat this with your fingers) spaghetti bolognase, this is how it goes down...
-Heat some oil (I prefer rape seed) in a large saucepan and fry 1 onion and 2 garlic cloves for a minute.
Add half a packet of mince meat (250g) or a vegetarian meat substitute and cook it up until it's not a gross pink colour anymore
Then mix in a tin of chopped tomatoes (400g) and 5 mushrooms sliced up- Stir it all up and bring it to the boil so it's bubbling then just keep it on a low heat for ten minutes
While that's heating, boil a pan of water for your pasta and once it's boiling drop the pasta in
Add some herbs if you want to the bolognase and skip out the salt, just add pepper.
Drain the pasta and put it on the plate, add the bolognase and serve!
This makes enough for about 2 people, or you can keep half and save it to eat for lunch the next day
Hooray for cheap student cooking!
