Asos Trouser Glory!

Sunday, 12 January 2014

I am not normally a jazzy trouser kind of girl I never really tend to go *there* as it all seems too daring for me and high maintenance.
When am I going to wear a hot pink pair of trousers, in January? Really?

I end up believing that this whole fling with the idea of statement trousers is over
and over and over
and over
until I decide that I keep being drawn back to fun print trousers and jewel tone colours, what good reason do I have for it not to be -oh so me- ?
I took the leap into trouser choice heaven (Asos

They may not seem that exciting to you, but to me this is a Pretty Big Deal
My drawer of trousers contains lots of shades of denim, lots of textures of black, some khaki green and coffee coloured cords.

I took the plunge and ordered a few pairs in a few sizes- I wasn't sure at this point of the damage that Christmas may have done to my thighs. I opted to begin building up a selection with this raspberry/crimson tailored pair that have a cute crop to them.

I know it's probably impossible to tell which one is a stock photographs and which one is being modelled by yours truly..

I won't lie to you, chilly ankles in this weather, but if I am popping out for lunch and I'll spend most of the time indoors then I can take the cold for a few moments.
I pair them with a cream knit jumper, embellished with roses in blue, yellow and an almost identical pink, the jumper is quite open knit and loose to give the whole look a 'casual winter brights' appeal that I hope I pull off.

The next pair are the jewel in the crown, delicious sort of iridescent blues, embroided with roses that resemble textiles only used for curtains in a time gone by.

Something about these scream oriental, so I just had to have them. They are light, and silky to touch and look very 'casual classy tailoring' with a cream blouse. I cannot get enough of them but feel that they are harder to look 'right' in Autumn/Winter because the blue is so fresh and spring-like whereas my pink pair are like a zingy stab in the dark winter days.

My style does not change often, and I stick to what I know meaning that I have pieces , in my eyes, that still work after years and years. This was a little off the wall for the likes of me, but what a fun and rewarding switch from the denim winter blues.

From ASOS with love

Woopsy I accidentally went shopping for one single blouse and instead came away with 2 blouses and 3 pretty little dresses!
I must say, I was bedazzled with the quality of this end of season sale, reflected in my purchases which of course never look as sassy on camera as they do on a person...

I couldn't resist the print of this dress, it's fabric is soft like rose petals and it's colours bold like summer, I think that there's a certain femininity with thin straps on dresses  that can't be found on strapless or more vest style dresses. I'll have to save this little gem as a treat for summertime!

This is my absolute guilty pleasure dress, it is so Betty Boop with it's dropped waist and sweetheart neckline, I just cannot get enough of it. It's a bold black that the flash has washed out a little, it's also made from that comfy and stretchy jersey fabric, forgiving fabrics are always a favourite.

What I came for.. a beautiful blouse, an even bigger bonus is the adorable colour and button accents- but the very best part is the cape affect that carries through from the sleeves to the back of the dress, I love little capes on clothes it adds instant fun!

And then another perhaps less practical blouse, but the gold tipped collar was what sold it to me, but it has a front and back cut out which is great because with long hair back detailing never gets noticed but now it looks pretty from the back too. The connecting collars with a button create a 'bow tie' look from afar which is never a bad thing.

Finally, a classic and comfortable (comfort is a recurring theme with me and dresses) jersey dress, it has a little bit of back detailing but it fits nicely, swishes around the hips and flatters the waist, it's casual style makes it great for afternoon and evening, shopping and parties and will probably become the most loved of all.

These boots were made for walking!

Thursday, 3 January 2013

It's my wardrobe staple forever and always:

Black ankle boots.

I've gotten through so many pairs in the past two years (maybe five or six?) and they all come from New Look and cost between £20-£30

They were and still are my wardrobe staple even though they caused me a million and one dilmenas including:
They would fall apart spontaneously

They would let the rain in after about a week of wear

They had no grip so I've been a victim of many 'near fall' accidents

But still I wear them and re buy another pair and another pair!

I came home for Christmas and my boot had a mouth and my mum said to me 'Get some new shoes!' but I'd only had this pair of boots since October so I was reluctant to throw them out, even though they were in tatters.

Finally I gave in, and opted for a different pair of ankle boots from somewhere else that might last me a little longer.
These are from Asos for £30
Cowboy-style low ankle boots.

They have a buckle and then a chain at the back which I was a bit sceptic about but in real life it's much nicer and they don't clank together to make me sound like a walking piggy bank.

The sole is a really pretty striped pattern which I guess no one will actually see.

But I love them, and they might last a little longer with a bit of luck!

If only I'd kept my old pair to show you, and all my old pairs to do a Boot-murial haha!

It's a nice day for a white wedding

Saturday, 28 July 2012

Today I went to a family friends wedding, I've had a music note dress on standby for a very long time for this special day and I found a keyboard purse in the ASOS sale to coordinate plus shoes I got from ebay a very long time ago
My outfit breakdown goes like this:
Dress Topshop was £75 but I got it from ebay for £6
Purse ASOS sale was £25 but int he sale it was £12.50
Shoes ebay, not branded and £10

Makeup went a little something like this...
Laura Mercier Moisturising foundation
Bobbi Brown Bronzing brick for abit of shimmer and a MAC matte bronzer to carve out those cheekbones and slim the face
Blusher by MAC in shade Well Dressed
Highlighting powder by MAC in Snowglobe (from the christmas range)
Lipstick by MAC in shade Lovelorn
Lipgloss by MAC in shade Pretty Plush
Eyebrows filled in with Folie eyeshadow by MAC
Eyes went a little like this:
Eye Primer by Bare Escentuals
Eyeshadow all over the eyelid in shade Shroom by MAC
Champagne golden eyeshadow from this fun Bed Head pallette over Shroom
Eyeshadow in shade Folie by Mac in the crease and blended to keep it fresh and pretty
The bottom eyeshadow in the bedhead pallette which is like a paler version of MAC's Mulch goes over the top of Folie to make it a little more shimmery
Use an eyeliner brush and take Folie along the top lashline
Shroom by MAC on the browbone as a highlight
White eyeliner along the waterline I used Fascinating by MAC
Black Mascara mine was from Bare Escentuals

Then finally, a spritz of MAC Fix plus all over the face to keep it on all day!

And all that remainds of the day!

I love keeping my name place settings of the weddings that I go to, just looking at it will reminds me of the colour scheme, theme, setting and the day so I think it deserves a place in the magical scrapbook which is a hobby I am determined to keep!

ASOS Sale Fail

Monday, 16 July 2012

Asos had a big sale going on and I nosed around to see if anything appealed. Unfortanetly a whole lot more appealed than I intended and this is what I came away with:

A fun piano clutch to match my music note dress to wear to a wedding this month!

A frilly bikini top, I love the foamy flowers they look like sweeties! I didn't buy the matching bottoms because I prefer when they mismatch

Pretty heart pumps that I thought would look cute with my pastel jeans

Even though I got these cute gems a lot had to go back including another bikini top because it was too small, a bag in the shape of an encyclopedia because it had a horrible brown panel, a cute bunny watch with a gross ink stain across it and a dress with cupcakes on it that felt cheap and thin!
Ah well, then I can save those pretty pennies to spend on something that I do like, hooray for free returns!

Eeny Weeny Teeny Bikini

Monday, 12 March 2012

I never buy in fashion swimwear I often just buy the top and bottom seperately, and as long as their bright and fun, it doesn't matter if their part of the same set.
And the good thing about that is you can often get swimwear much cheaper if you buy them as seperates.

Right now, for the UK at least, swimwear is out of season as it's still cold outside, not sunglasses weather!

But....

This is the best time (price wise) to get your swim wear, before it rockets up at the end of Spring.

I'm sharing a few of my absolute favourites for this summer!

I love, love, love this cute little pin up bikini top, the sparkly ruby slipper bow and gingham print- available from here and handmade in Corona!

River Island Ice Cream Stripe Bikini

I love this one, and it's called ice cream stripes! available from here and their available to buy seperately so that you can mix and match!

Image 1 of River Island Frill Polka Dot Bikini

I love this one for all it's frills and polka dots! It's the prettiest, most doll-like thing ever! You can buy it from here and this one too, is able to be mixed and matched up!

Do you like mixing and matching swimwear, or do you think it looks a little shabby?

Clouds of mint green

Wednesday, 8 February 2012

I am very excited that pastel colours are deemed the 'in' colours of this and next season. I've always had a huge love for that pastel mint colour, a kind of bluey-green that is just delicious to look at but findig clothes in such a specific colour is not always so easy, until now!
I came across this jacket which I am just drooling over

Pinned Image

I love the stud detail, and the colour is just so perfect! I found it on Pinterest, so where it came from will probably be forever a mystery!

I love this mint satchel

Although I put my bags through their paces so I imagine the suede would get grubby pretty quickly

and finally, what I love the most are these mint jeans, which unfortunately look as though they've sold out, which is too bad as I imagine these to look perfect with some crisp white shoes!

Sweet peppermint dreams! And do you like the pastel trend?
