Tshirt drawing time!

Wednesday, 18 July 2012

What do you do when you have spare white tshirts, fabric pens and a free evening? You combine it all together for a crafty evening or surprise tshirt presents!
We made a tshirt for eachother and created a cereal box wall on the table so we couldn't peek at eachothers design!

This is how my design began, I wanted to make a dragon/knight theme so started with scales on the sleeves

Two hours later the crafting had finished!
I was worried the dragon looked a little too happy for a tough warrior to wear

A shield on the back that it wasn't until afterwards that I realised it was kiddy-sized!

This was the cute design I got back! covered in candy treats with cotton candy clouds and cookie angels, all my favourite sweet things in one place!

Pinterest Spamterest

Pinned Image
Pinterest is a great ol' hub of creativity mixing together, if you are a bride to be then you need to make your way over to Pinterest.com for every creative, beautiful, money saving, romance making, awe inducing creations, themes, colour schemes, locations and dresses from the most stylish and savvy brides of the world!

I have created seperate virtual pin boards for clothes from my dreams, places I thought were only in fantasy lands, foods that are so pretty I want to coat them in a clear preserve to look at them forever and other boards just to collect all the crazy and outlandish world statistics that I never knew about and others are there to gather the craft projects of my dreams, I wish we didn't need to always be in the real world and going to the places that we have to go to like work and school and instead we could have months of empty time just to make and stick and stitch and paint.

Just lately though my boards have been corrupted by spam, I don't even know how it could have happened but my account has just given birth to brand new boards all by itself titled completely lame things like 'The best paid jobs in the US' ... i don't even live in the US- that's not something that I would put on my lovely array of pin boards! And the more I delete it, more boards seem to spring up that I didn't even create!
I just hope if i keep reporting it, it will go away but I won't let it plague my oasis of favourite things on my pin boards.
Here are some of my favourites!

ASOS Sale Fail

Monday, 16 July 2012

Asos had a big sale going on and I nosed around to see if anything appealed. Unfortanetly a whole lot more appealed than I intended and this is what I came away with:

A fun piano clutch to match my music note dress to wear to a wedding this month!

A frilly bikini top, I love the foamy flowers they look like sweeties! I didn't buy the matching bottoms because I prefer when they mismatch

Pretty heart pumps that I thought would look cute with my pastel jeans

Even though I got these cute gems a lot had to go back including another bikini top because it was too small, a bag in the shape of an encyclopedia because it had a horrible brown panel, a cute bunny watch with a gross ink stain across it and a dress with cupcakes on it that felt cheap and thin!
Ah well, then I can save those pretty pennies to spend on something that I do like, hooray for free returns!

Snuggy Bear Slippers

Sunday, 15 July 2012

I'm a sucker for slippers - I know it's an old granny thing to like but when you live in a old house with entirely wooden floors slippers are a blessing from the heavens!
So a little while earlier I spoke about Duvet Ducks- slippers made from duvets, well here I present to you fresh off the runway from Berlin Fashion Week (err)

They are so lovely and chunky, the bear is huge too and you cannot miss it when you walk in the room. I love how fluffy and cosy they are.
Sometimes, the little bear eyes get covered up by how much fluff is on the slipper and then they look less cute and more like eyeless bears.

Anywho they are my new favourites and cost the sweet ol' price of £4.50 from Debenhams

Pretty Pastel Nails

Saturday, 14 July 2012

I treated myself to a new set of acrylic nails, and when the lady asked me what I wanted I said a ranbow! Then I specified pastel, and I was so delighted with the results!

All the polishes were OPI but as for names... I really don't know, I'm usually much more of a Barry M nail polish wearer.

They make me feel so happy to look at, it's like having ice cream dripping from my finger tips!
I think they'll chip off pretty soon though, I'm quite tough on my hands.

The colours make my pastel rings looks so much cuter, and I love the way that the acrylic makes the nail look thick, does that make sense? It makes them look more yummy and plastic-fantastic!

Bathing in GOO

Friday, 13 July 2012

I was drawing myself a bath when I stumbled upon a container filled with bath tablets that turn your bath water a fun, bright colour! I had forgotten that I even had them, as I think they were from the kids section in Boots bath gimmicks.

So I just threw the last two in the water and waited to see what happened!

This is what happened!
It looked like I had a bath of goo, it didn't stain anything even though it was so super-vibrant and it made my bath a little more fun! Though I've no idea what drew me to buying someting so useless...

Espresso Eyes

Thursday, 12 July 2012

Chocolatey browns and Golden creams- the makeup look inspired by a Starbucks!

If you like this look then today is your lucky day because here is all nine steps that I did this morning!

1.Primed my eyes using Bare Escentuals eye primer
2.Coated the whole eyelid in a creamy white shadow 'Shroom' by MAC
3.From the outer corner I dolloped my versatile dark brown 'Folie' by MAC and swished it back and fourth in the crease
4.I used a taupey-grey colour, I can't remember what one! and blended that back and fourth over Folie, only use a little amount, we want to look to be mostly that lovely warm brown rather than a cool grey
5. Using the Folie eyeshadow and taking a thin eyeliner brush i run that along the upper lash line and half way along the lower- this way it's not as harsh as liquid liner and fits in with a 'smokey' look.
6. On the browbone to make a crisp contrast I uses Loreal Color Infaillable in shade 001 Time Resist White
7. Using a brow brush and and an eyeshadow in shade 'Folie' from Mac I run the colour through my brows lightly, and slowly builing up the shape and thickness I'd like
8. I used a white eyeliner pencil on my waterline to my my eyes look bigger, I used 'Fascinating' from MAC
9. I finished off with a few layers of Bare Escentuals black mascara

Done and done!
Espresso, daytime look deliciousness!

So you had a bad day?

Wednesday, 11 July 2012

I read this great quote once that said "Don't let a bad day make you think you have a bad life"

Another influence for me has beena  book by Katie Piper titled 'Beautiful'
Since the day I began reading it  any time I feel as though I'm having a bad day, I remember the most horrendous day of this ladies life and suddenly nothing seems like it's so bad after all. Katie's story is similar to reading a personal diary that documents her life from naive beginnings right through to the mile stones in her recovery, it's very raw and gripping and until the point of a horrendous acid attack that melts away the face that was making her a name in the land of glitz and glamour television. The reader is plagued with the sense that everything is going to end 'tomorrow' but you keep reading to find out when 'tomorrow' is.
The part of the story that has imprinted in my mind even more vivdly than the acid attack itself, is her description of the nightmares that followed. They are described in a way that made it feel as though the nightmares were being woven into reality and coming to life around me, I was completely visually absorbed into Katie's world at that time.

Many memoirs adopt a type of victim approach, an element of seeking out sympathy and I believe this is what sets Katie Pipers story apart. Adament from the start that she would not be seen as a victim, this experience was just adding another layer to her character and a development of her personality. As a whole it was wonderfully refreshing and not just 'another tragic story'.
There is something that everyone could learn from Katie's story. She reminds me that a bad day isn't so bad afterall.

So you've had a bad day?

Ducks on your duvet?

Tuesday, 10 July 2012

So maybe it is summer and maybe making your feet warmer is the absolute last thing on your mind, but in rainy ol' England it's on my mind quite often, especially as there's a lot of wooden floorbaords rather than cosy carpet in my house. So- I give you... The Duvet Ducks!

I tried to take a picture to show off their true cosiness but no camera will do these justice!
Even the fanciest slipper in the world will not make you think that you're still in bed, but these babies will do just that, they're made from the same stuff as duvets and cradle your foot like a fluffy cloud!

So far I've only been able to find them on Amazon- but they really are amazing as they sound and as a regular slipper wearer I give these guys 5 toes up! (like thumbs or star ratings- but with toes!)

Wedding dresses, fancy hotels and a Hello Kitty ball!

Monday, 9 July 2012

You best bet the Hello Kitty part belongs to me whereas the dress and hotel... well they're my sisters!
Today was a very special day because it was the day that we went wedding dress shopping (I say we, I mean she- I sat and ate the complimentary chocolates and helped pick out dresses)

When I saw her in the very first dress (even though it wasn't our favourite in the end) I just gasped! My sister in a wedding dress! I wish I could have taken pictures of that part to show you, but they won't let you in the shops incase you send the picture to China to make a copy or something, oh it was so sad! But don't worry the one that we do end up getting, I'll take so many photographs the fabric will probably get faded from too much of my camera flashing away- haha!

Another fun little part, which I did get to take pictures of was the gifties my sister had got me since I saw her last- my sister showers me with gifts almost every time I see her, it's like a mini birthday! Sometimes she'll bring me her old cosmos and other times it's more fancy stuff like chocolates, clothes and soft toys, and sometimes it's nothing but her funny loud voice and stories from her job.
This time, she'd been to London for the long weekend due to the diamond Jubilee and stayed at The Savoy- very fancy pants. She brought me back chocolates that she saw being made in front of her! I intended to show the actual chocoaltes, but they went somewhere before I got a chance...
One had the print of the union jack on and they all tasted amazing!
I also got some super duper cute pink and cream stiped shorts from New Look- I love candy stripes!
And the cutest of all is the Hello Kitty ball! It looks like Hello Kitty was cros bred with a blow fish, it's so adoable I want to squeeze it! But I instead just cuddle the cuteness out of it!

Happy white dresses and kitty ball Mondays!
